Why the 2008 Nissan Versa?

Safety & braking

With ABS the braking is fairly good. It has front, side and headcurtain airbags and performs well in IILS-HLDI crash tests. Generous passenger compartment.

Driving position & visibility

Vertical seat adjuster lever is on inboard size...brilliant, esp. after the ridiculous and difficult to reach knob on my VW. Comfy seat, highish position, easier on bad back. Rear vision could be better but better than many out there.

Handling

It is perfectly mediocre and adequate, ideal for my driving habits. I like tootling around slowly, coasting lots, accelerating slowly and not pushing air. Motor and transmission get me adequately up local ski mountain.

Price or payments

The price was very reasonable, and not because my brother was the salesperson. (one reason we bought it though, other is my wife liked it better than Fit, which I would have preferred for superior reliability.)

Why Not the 2008 Nissan Versa?

Brand reputation & image

It is very weak on reliability compared to Toyota and Honda in consumer reports, and seems to be weakening on the True Delta charts.
