Reliability and Durability of the Nissan Versa: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr Sedan 107-horsepower 1.6L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I trust my car and know it will go when I need it. The bumpers, front and rear, are light plastic and should be upgraded but I am told most other cars are the same these days. Nissan advises against towing with the car likely because of the small engine but it tows behind my mh quite nicely. I will take this car over the VW Passat which I would rate as the more unreliable car I have ever owned.
2008 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
out of the 50,000 KM i have done the only thing that has had to be done is change the tires and the usual servicing
2008 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
CVT FWD
Great car very few problems
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
CVT FWD
We have had our Versa for two and a half years and other than regular maintenance we have not had to spend a dime on the car. After 40k miles the brakes are still almost like new and the car still runs great.
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
I had the engine cap missing for over a month and it still performed well. I can rely on it to always start on the first try and to survive parking garage & other urban hazards without failure.
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
everything

New Nissan model. Felt light/cheap.
2008 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
After I signed the papers but before I made it off the lot with my new car, we found the back window did not raise & lower properly, and I had to leave it for repairs right then. Also, the headlight assembly is very cheap and broke off at a 5mph bump.
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
6-speed manual FWD
Versa 1 visited the repair shop 5 times in 8000 miles before being totalled in an accident. Versa 2 visited the repair shop more than a dozen times in 31,000 miles, and had a dangerous transmission problem that was never fixed.
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
CVT FWD
It was a first year model. I bought a first year model once and will never make the same mistake twice.
2007 4dr Sedan 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
4-speed automatic FWD
Less reliable and durable than Honda
2007 4dr Hatch 122-horsepower 1.8L I4
CVT FWD
I do not feel safe driving it in winter due to the starting and speeding up issues. It has not gotten me from A to B reliably. Rather it has caused me much grief.
