Road trip on vacation the air conditioning compressor locked-up solid burning off the serpentine belt. Both items replaced and van picked up after vacation. On trip home, air stopped working again. Our local repair shop added more freon and all is well.

Few years back, the ac froze up and burned the belt off. Shop repaired but did not find a leak in the heat exchanger. Second shop recharged freon and added dye, I found leak. I added $30/3oz leak repair + 3x$20/12oz freon. So far so good.
