2008 Pontiac G6 4dr Sedan
164-horsepower 2.4L I4 4-speed automatic FWD
Torque converter clutch locks and unlocks about every 5 seconds while driving between 40 and 60 MPH. Mechanic said they are using a new "More viscous" transmission fluid now so that's normal operation. At 65 MPH, TCC stays locked, as it should
Key sticks in the ignition and won't come out. Manuel shifter will not go into reverse. They replaced the shifter and gave me the car back after 10 days, and then it was difficult to put into first gear. Gave it back for two additional days to repair. Completed shifter repair.
Transmission cooler lines at the transmission were leaking. Replaced the fittings.
Second time for trans. First time at 52000, second at 56000 dealer fixed for 400 deduct same problem, almost same miles - wouldn't help. Independent trans shop said that's been a problem with that trans also radiator leaking again
car would shake between 10 and 15 mph internal problem with trans. parts replaced covered under previous repairs
fourth time on trans repair (once under warranty from shop not g.m.)
with cruise control on, car would accel even if not on a hill, but while tach shot up, car itself did not move any faster. trans appeared to "slip." later, trans was stuck in first and second, but after shutting engine off and restarting, problem only app dealer replaced valve and channel plate for previous transmission problem, new valve was defective. had to be replaced a second time.
