Why the 2007 Porsche Boxster?

Handling

This has got to be the best handling car available - and I include Ferrari's, 911's, Lamborghini's etc in that statement. Mid engine, perfect balance, predictable under any conditions including snow & ice.

Powertrain performance

This car will take you anywhere you care to point it. Smooth power with great low-end torque, and more power available when you want it.

Safety & braking

The base version set a Consumer Reports record for stopping distance, and the S version is even better. Stops in less distance in wet conditions than most cars do in dry!

Exterior styling

Very classy yet connotes power. I like the slightly humped fenders, nicely sculpted nose, and side engine air intakes (real, not fake like Mustangs!) The long rear deck takes some getting used to, but I like it now.

Cargo capacity

With two trunks, the Boxster is actually great for traveling and shopping. I can put two propane tanks, or a rollaboard suitcase, in the front trunk alone!

Why Not the 2007 Porsche Boxster?

Ride smoothness

If you want a cushy ride, don't buy this car. It's a sports car first and everything else is secondary.

Quietness

I can talk on my cell phone with the top up, but it's not what you'd call quiet. It's a convertible with little sound dampening and loud tires, so what do you expect?

Price or payments

Porsche charges an arm and a leg for every little option.

Audio & nav systems

I paid extra for the Bose system and it's not all that great. Difficult controls, muddy sound. Had to go to expensive aftermarket to get an iPod dock for the fiberoptic audio loop.
