Looked like a good deal at the time. A member from Michigan, United States Best Reason to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Handling Handling is good for this size of car. Best Reason Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Powertrain performance Had the air mass flow replaced under warranty. The transmission is starting to occasionally have periods os shifting hard, no dip stick to check the fluid, not supposed to have to change fluid under normal driving conditions, ever. Leaking cooler under intake manifold had to be replaced. Filter changes are difficult and they should not be. Bad valve guide seals so it burns oil like there is no tomorrow. Consequently I have had to replace coil packs and spark plugs ( Fine wire iridium last longest.) Other Reasons to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Ride smoothness, Fuel economy, Cargo capacity & towing, Materials & workmanship Other Reasons Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Materials & workmanship, Quietness, Reliability & durability, Brand reputation & image This member owns or leases the reviewed vehicle. read full review |

Overall Good Car A member from Louisiana, United States Best Reason to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Reliability & durability Very reliable. I can count on one hand how many times the car needed to be in the shop for more than one day (other than for maintenance work). Earlier in my ownership, I did not take very good care. 6 years later, and with better maintenance on my part, it is still running strong. 10 years old, 164,000 miles, and no major mechanical repairs. Best Reason Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Materials & workmanship Interior materials have not held up as well as I would like. The driver's seat cushion has lost its firmness, there is a hole where the fabric has worn thin, the lumbar support no longer works well. The handle of the glove box snapped in two a few years back. The driver's visor broke. The fabric on the roof is starting to come down, but I do live in a hot climate. A member from California, United States Best Reason to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Reliability & durability Engine and transmission have been highly reliable. Over 182,000 miles with only regular maintenance and one warranty to replace an ignition module. Tires have always worn well. Best Reason Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Materials & workmanship Some weak elements in interior appointments. The center console accessory box lid broke twice. The plastic door handles are squeaky when gripped. Other Reasons to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Safety & braking, Fuel economy, Handling, Powertrain performance Other Reasons Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Ride smoothness This member owns or leases the reviewed vehicle. read full review |

A member from Pennsylvania, United States Best Reason to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Powertrain performance The engine is rated at 182 or so horsepower, but feels like it has 250 or more. The car gets to sixty in less than eight seconds. The transmission shifts smoothly and at appropriate times, even when a lead foot is used. Best Reason Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Materials & workmanship There are some minor issues with materials and workmanship on the car. All mechanical parts are high quality, but some of the trim is problematic - silly things like the vanity mirrors in the visors which both fell apart. Other Reasons to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Handling, Safety & braking, Front seat support & comfort, Ride smoothness Other Reasons Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Reliability & durability, Warranty, scheduled maintenance cost, Brand reputation & image, Fuel economy This member owns or leases the reviewed vehicle. read full review |

A member from Colorado, United States Best Reason to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Safety & braking I have personal experience with rolling a Saturn in a very nasty accident. My entire family emerged from the car unscathed. The outside of the car was totally destroyed, but the passenger compartment was intact. Best Reason Not to Buy the Saturn L-Series: Reliability & durability Incredibly poor reliability on my car. Two steering gears, three body control modules, a fuel pump, a thermostat, new axle seals. ALL of this happened prior to 50,000 miles. Cost me a lot of $$$ !! NOT impressed by this. Runs great...when it runs!
