The battery in this car has been terrible. 3 times it has been too low to start the car after leaving the ignition on for under 10 minutes. Most recently it was seriously struggling and then failed to start the car in the cold (28F) weather. Decided to just buy a new, larger CCA battery for it. Also, at no point during the failed starts has the Low Battery voltage indicator come on, despite it failing to start the car. Not very impressed with my first Subaru so far.

38000 mi oil level sensor goes off too soon. 7/2019: basically for the life of the car the oil light goes off when the dipstick measures half. This boxer engine consumes about 1.5 qt every 6000 miles, so it will go off around 4000 miles. Really this isn't a big deal. I think it's programmed this way so owners never let their car's oil drop too much.

air conditioning was not working (was last repaired last year - freon was recharged). but within the week of the repair, could hear a hissing sound when air cond. was running and am now taking it back because it is blowing warm air again.

88000 mi

Compressor, receiver and dryer failed, shop replaced these to repair the air conditioning problem (was not blowing cold), but the A/C was insufficiently cold from day two after getting the car back. Upon putting dye in and checking system, found that there were additional leaks. Fixed those and charged for parts, no labor, no freon (which were required) given that the issue had not been found previously. 3rd attempt to fix the A/C. Told me that there was a "high pressure hose" that was leaking in addition to the previous defective compressor, dryer, receiver (trip #1), and two additional leaks (trip #2). So far so good, but took three recent trips.
