TrueDelta Reviews the Gas Mileage of the 2015 Subaru Legacy

2015 Subaru Legacy Gas Mileage: Neutral
2015 The 175-horsepower 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder engine should perform well enough for most buyers. (I had no issue with it in the Forester.) With this engine, the new Legacy manages impressive EPA fuel economy ratings for an all-wheel-drive vehicle: 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine in the tested car is much thirstier, with EPA ratings of 20 city and 29 highway. The Fusion 2.0T AWD scores better, 22/31. The Chrysler, on the other hand, is the worst of the bunch, 19/29. Unless one includes the 19/27 Regal in the bunch. So the Legacy 3.6R out-economizes two out of three close competitors despite falling far short of the 2.5i. In varied driving in the North Carolina mountains, the trip computer reported an average of 24.6 mpg. In straight highway driving it reported a bit over 30, close to the EPA rating. Manual calculations suggest that these trip computer reports could have been up to two mpg high. full 2015 Subaru Legacy review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Gas Mileage of the 2015 Subaru Legacy

2015 Subaru Legacy Gas Mileage: Pros
2013 4dr Sedan 256-horsepower 3.6L H6
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD
The downside of the H6 is not great gas mileage, but for what you are getting, it is not bad. On the highway with cruise control have managed to get about 30 mpg. In a mix of city and highway it gets 23 mpg. In city only it gets 18 mpg. Again, for AWD not bad, but not great. Want better gas mileage, get the H4 engine. full 2013 Subaru Legacy review
2015 Subaru Legacy Gas Mileage: Neutral
2013 0 The car computer told me that I got over 30MPG in mostly highway with passengers and AC, including some idling time, and the highway time was at a "spirited" speed (75MPH limits were somewhat adhered to). It appeared the car was full of gas when I picked it up (sometimes the gauge moves 3 miles after leaving the rental car facility) and the amount of gas I refillled it with correlates very closely to the computer's average. That is pretty darn close to the EPA numbers, or exceeding them considering the workload on the car. full 2013 Subaru Legacy review

Questions about the Subaru Legacy

2015 - 2017 Subaru Legacy

I've had Toyota Camrys for the past 10 years. Recent heavy rains and a large puddle caused it to stall... then came the flood. I'm not sold on the Subaru Legacy because I can't get around the different kind of drive and feel of my test drive. Do I take...
