Reliability & durability

This thing is over-the-top-reliable. I take it off-road, slam the under-belly on to rocks, bull it over large stones like a Hummer, pull over 10,000 lbs for drives well over 2 hours (it stinks of sulfer on the hills but...) - only in shop for oil/brakes.

Past personal experience

This is my 4th 4Runner. Every version is a major improvement over the last.

Materials & workmanship

A big problem with 4wd vehicles can be wheel bearing hub assemblies. 4Runner owners don't know what these things are - they never die on 4Runners... All the parts are excellent.

Depreciation

You're never under water with one of these - there is a whole community looking to buy used 4Runners.

Dealer practices

The big hit on these trucks is the dealer network. I personally hate Toyota dealers. I have had a lot of Toyotas and only ever change the oil and the odd air fllter - never did the scheduled stuff and then lasted for ever.

Ride smoothness

This is not a city car turned into an SUV. Its an off-road pick-up truck with a frame turned into an SUV. If you don't pull heavy loads or go off-road get a Hylander. It rides rough and hard... That said never a rattle after unspeakable abuse.

Rear seat room & comfort

This is a vehicle designed for people 5 fett 11 inches and under - no two ways about it. If you are 5 feel 11 or over you will not enjoy this truck.

Discounts & incentives

You can't buy this cheap - too many people want this truck used.

Price or payments

Very expensive with no discounts. Also it takes a long time to get one if its not on the lot...
