The rack & pinion began leaking at 96k. The ASE certified mechanic, who also worked at a Toyota dealership for several years said this was one of only a couple that he had ever seen go bad. Considering that this is the only repair that has occurred since buying it in 2007 (apart from basic maintenance e.g. oil changes, alignment, etc), this truck has been perfect. My last Chevy half ton (1996) required major work every year. And while I like the way the newer GM trucks look, I always go back and count the number of Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) between these two truck models. This said, I intend to buy another Tundra when the time comes. |
