50's Beetle or Bust A member from Virginia, United States Best Reason to Buy the Volkswagen Beetle: Exterior styling Recently purchased the 50's model Beetle. I couldn't be more pleased with the appearance of the car! I've owned it less than a week and I receive complements on it everytime I've driven it. Best Reason Not to Buy the Volkswagen Beetle: Rear seat room & comfort The back seat, if you could really call it that, leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe another 3 in. That being said it fits a car seat with my 6' frame in the front seat ahead of it, so it gets the job done. Once the top goes down the interior space seems adequate. This is achieved by going 55 MPH or thereabouts, and on limited-access hiways. In-town mileage of course is worse. Best Reason Not to Buy the Volkswagen Beetle: Rear seat room & comfort Oh, there is a seat there? I thought that was the hamster roost. Very limited seating in back - suitable for small children. Rear seats do not recline at all, so posture is quite erect.
