Their best guess was a bad connection. I'm not convinced since they had it all day and did not charge me anything. My guess would be carbon from the cleanup they did a week earlier was loose in intake.
110200 mi

US $1590
Leaking seal at upper timing cover leaked oil onto water pump. Collection of oil caused water pump leak. The oil leak was not seen on garage floor but coolant puddle was sizable. Air flow too low at idle stored in ECM. Leaking crankcase breather valve. Replaced breather valve.

105000 mi

US $250
Intake manifold error code along with misfiring on cylinders, lean fuel. I had to get the intake manifold replaced for the second time, I also paid to have them manually clean the carbon out as well since it has only been about 30k since last intake replacement. This fixed the other error codes. This was under mfg extended warranty still - thankfully!

103000 mi

US $1300
Engine stopped running at high rpm. Extensive diagnostic expense led to conclusion that main bearing had seized or "spun". Car sold for $1000 to auto auction.
22000 mi They said it was the intake as the car was low on gas and the engine light came on

63000 mi

US $700
Engine misfire on #2 cylinder. Diagnosed as cold start misfire likely from carbon build up. Replaced plugs, coils and had intake valves cleaned of carbon. Lots of carbon build up removed. Common issue with direct injection engines.
68000 mi

US $550
CEL for cooling system reading out of expected range. Replaced both thermostat and sensor to resolve problem. At nearly 70K miles I elected to replace the water pump since there would be no additional labor.
80000 mi CEL, diagnosed as intake manifold issue, replaced under extended manufacturer recall, when reassembled, #2 fuel injector was also bad. It was also replaced under recall.
29700 mi leak in intake manifold, could not hold vacuum. dealer said a valve in intake was sticking and the entire manifold had to be replaced. It was replaced under warranty, it would have cost about $550 parts and labor.
35000 mi ECP and check engine lights, car doesnt crank. Dealer says #3 injector bad. Car still in shop, injector seal kit on back order, they say could be 2 weeks or more. with it not cranking I am guessing there are additional issues.

Intake valve carbon buildup causing cold start misfire and loss of power. This is a known issue with DI engines, with no real fix. Expect to clean the valves roughly every 50K miles. Car will run, but with a check engine light.
