5767 mi Manual Transmission Clutch occasionally slips under full throttle acceleration at highway speeds. Inconsistent, difficult to reliably reproduce. Under application of throttle, revs will rapidly rise without accompanying increase in vehicle speed, revs will then settle back to a normal rate of increase in keeping with the car's acceleration. Vehicle is unmodified. Tech test drove vehicle with me, unable to replicate. Advised to return when problem becomes more pronounced.

18000 mi Manual transmission catches when going into gear (2nd, 3rd and 4th gear) Also experiencing drive line slop (slack or play) when on and off throttle. Especially at highway speeds when lightly getting on an off throttle. This was during the same visit, but as with the other problem, the service tech could not duplicate the problem.
5000 mi Clutch pedal assembly was replaced due to a squeaking sound. Functioned normally but after filling out an online survey from VW noting the noise, I was contacted by an engineer who met me at a nearby dealer along with a rep from the vendor who made the assembly and they determined that a new assembly should be installed.

3000 mi Shaking/wobble felt on acceleration from stop. Does this only on 1.8 TSI with automatic. Was called by dealer for a TCM upgrade fix. Upgrade did not stop the wobble problem.
3900 mi Same shaking/wobble problem. Dealer replaced right front axel. Did not solve the problem. Seems there is a bad batch of axels made in China. Those made in Mexico don't seem to cause the problem.
4600 mi After unsuccessful attempt to repair shaking/wobble in front end, dealer replaced both axles with ones made in Mexico and not China (like the OEM ones). This seems to have stopped the problem and the acceleration is now smooth.
22000 mi Shift handle issue
19000 mi Had an intermittent "transmission error" light, so shifter column replaced.
21700 mi On January 27, 2017, when car went to dealer for Suction Pump Recall, dashboard error message had previously indicated Gearbox Error (no repair done, unable to reproduce). At Motor Vehicle Inspection, found faulty Shift Module Assembly (ordered and replaced).
19000 mi On a trip back from Kentucky to MD, an alert signal was raised and the text "transmission issue" but the manual has no information for that. I called the dealer from the mountains of west virginia and they said that it wasn't a worry....but to take it in....when I took it in they found that the shifter needed replacing.

29900 mi Leak in DSG transmission
70000 mi

US $100
Intense whine in fifth and sixth gears. Have taken it to the dealer numerous times - including under the CPO warranty for the issue, had them diagnose it as bad tires, wheel bearings, CV joint, bent rim, perfectly normal, then after the CPO warranty expired, it miraculously needs a new DSG transmission despite having reported it while it was under warranty. Estimate for a USED transmission replacement is about $4k. A new one is around $9K, which is about $1000 shy of the current bluebook. After much research, I performed a reset on the controller via VCDS. The cable / software license cost me $300 (bought it with the car from the previous owner). After the first reset, the noise went away.
77000 mi DSG 5th and 6th gear noise issue is back, this time accompanied by an occasional hard fault condition requiring pulling over on the highway (as it usually happens at highway speeds in 5th or 6th gear). In this condition, the transmission will default to second gear and flash a wrench shaped warning light, and will not respond to shift requests until the ignition has been shutoff, car placed in park, then started again. Check Engine light is on. A repair has not been attempted as the USED replacement transmission is over $4000 installed.
80140 mi

US $4900
