What Our Members Are Saying about the Reliability And Durability of the Porsche Cayman

Porsche Cayman Reliability And Durability: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2011 0 Historically, sports cars were amongst the most unreliable of all vehicles. While early Caymans would occassionally suffer catastrophic engine problems, it was otherwise remarkably dependable. Since the problem was fixed in model year 2009, the car has been relatively rock solid. full 2011 Porsche Cayman review
2008 2dr Hatch 295-horsepower 3.4L H6
6-speed manual RWD
The car has been bullet proof. Some say these cars are expensive to maintain and while iut costs more than a Honda Civic I've averaged less than 500 a year for maintenance and other than a flat tire I've never had to bring the car in unexpectedl full 2008 Porsche Cayman review
2007 2dr Hatch 295-horsepower 3.4L H6
6-speed manual RWD
So far only routine maintenance has been required. Absolutely no issues at all after 15,000 miles. full 2007 Porsche Cayman review
Porsche Cayman Reliability And Durability: Cons

Unlike older 911s, this car, and its contemporaries, is built to a price point and some things are cheapened. A notorious example is the IMS, which synchronizes the cylinder banks and valves. The bearing it rides on can fail which can take the whole engine out. I don't know whether these engines will have the potential to reach 250k miles, like the old air-cooled engines. full 2007 Porsche Cayman review
