What Our Members Are Saying about the Real Gas Mileage of the 2009 Honda Civic

2009 Honda Civic Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
I consistently get between 7 and 7.5L per 100 km which is about 32.5 MPG(US). I also own a Toyota Tundra, so the savings on fuel almost pay for the civic itself. see full Honda Civic review
2010 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Very good. Get a true 36 mpg on interstate doing a sustained 75 mph. see full Honda Civic review
2009 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid
CVT FWD
Getting around 40 MPG combined 60/40 Hwy/City; more if I go easy on the gas pedal. see full Honda Civic review
2009 4dr Sedan 197-horsepower 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
The Si still gets rather good fuel economy, even with a much beefier motor than the other models. see full Honda Civic review
2009 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Superb fuel economy. The Civic gets 1.5 liter mileage on the highway (40+ with AC in my experience) and excellent mileage in the city (30+ MPG). It does this without the anemic hybrid performance or the inconveniences of a diesel engine. see full Honda Civic review
2009 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid
CVT FWD
It ranks just below the Prius for MPG. My son who bought a 2008 Civic Hybrid says he is getting better than rated MPG. I am trading in a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid because the city MPG is not anywhere near what I was led to believe. see full Honda Civic review
2009 4dr Sedan 197-horsepower 2.0L I4
6-speed manual FWD
17mpg if you use all OE specification fluids and drive short trips around town. I get 32mpg with Amsoil full synthetic with cruise control at 65mph. 24mpg for mixed (normal). It *requires* premium. The K20Z3 uses multi-port fuel injection (not DI) with a static compression ratio of 11.0:1. If you put lower grade fuel in, you'll not only have missed the point of the car - you'll also make the engine eat itself from the inside out. see full Honda Civic review
2009 4dr Sedan 140-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed manual FWD
Great economy. see full Honda Civic review
2008 4dr Sedan 110-horsepower 1.3L I4 Hybrid
CVT FWD
Highway mileage of 40 mpg + at 75-80 see full Honda Civic review
2008 2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 1.8L I4
5-speed automatic FWD
Consistently returns 30 to 40 mpg with performance tires on a high traffic / high speed commute. see full Honda Civic review
