Why the 2009 smart fortwo?

Past personal experience

After 2years and 22000 miles we have found the Smart to be a great daily driver and good on the trips of 200 and 300 miles. Although this may not be a car for every one it has worked well for us ( a retired couple). it cut our fuel bill by 2/3 over the Saturn Vue, has been trouble free and we can still but 15 to 20 bags of groceries in the back or enough luggage to travel. Our mpg seem to better than average ( 48 for 22000 miles) due to area we live. Very little city and speeds between 45 and 65 on most roads helps.

Ride smoothness

Ride has been good for a car with this small a wheel base.

Powertrain performance

Found that it preforms much better than the comments the talking heads have made in most of the car reviews. Not all of need to go 0to60 in 4.0 seconds.

Exterior styling

Probably not the best looking car but is different and gets a lot of cute comments.

Interior styling

Much larger than it looks.

Why Not the 2009 smart fortwo?

Dealer practices

Probably the biggest fault, dealers are normally to far apart.

Tires

Car is very capable and stable in snow or ice with correct winter tires, don't think it could handle anything over 6".

Conclusion

Bought the Smart to save on fuel of a daily driver and over all cost. It worked better than expected, but as I said they are not for everyone.
