Battery needed to be replaced as one that had only been bought a little over a year ago from Virginia Tire and Auto would not hold a charge-but it was drained the night before as I was replacing the battery on the key FOB this resulted in opening the back hatch halfway which left interior lights on -and I was not aware of it being open until our next door neighbor notified me
1600 mi One of my key fobs had to be replaced due to a "short" in the fob. It would open my rear tailgate without me pressing an open button on the fob.

82000 mi

US $1744
Replaced battery. The battery on this car has had to be replaced annually. I suspect a spotware problem requiring this frequency of change, but the service advisory says the batteries the dealer has to use are lower quality. I'll provide my own battery next year.
24000 mi needed software update that had not been done by our normal dealer/service. the battery would drain and go flat if the car was not driven for a period of more than 3 days. the new dealer/service centre replaced the battery and installed software that they said should have been installed some time ago. problem solved- no troubles since this fix.
30000 mi

US $150
Battery died. Original battery from factory.
7500 mi Battery died. It is possible that rear dome light was left on, or vehicle though trunk was open which also leaves rear dome light on. Vehicle has no protection over lights left on.

20000 mi Dead battery

14000 mi GPS locks up, and entertainment system no longer responds to commands. Only solution is to stop and restart car.
7000 mi During cold weather fan froze and made terrible noise. Could not explain. There was some minor debris in the filter, but no other explanation could be found. HVAC system was cleaned and 6000 mile maintenance was performed.
24000 mi Radio (AM/FM/Serius) had problems Stations would change automatically or would not change at all Nav would lock up. Dealer reloaded the software for the radio. After 10 days it is working correctly.
26000 mi Radio in for software refresh. Radio continues to lock up and prevent station changes
1000 mi Battery died. Replaced battery with stronger battery
10844 mi battery was defective
9000 mi Airbag sensor was present on the dashboard. Airbag plug in the driver seat was damaged, due to an object under the seat. The seat is powered and has memory to change between two different drivers. The seat repeatedly hit the same object until the connector for the airbag cable broke. The Subaru dealer replaced the plug for free.
