Why the 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer?

Dealer practices

We got nailed in a lease and the dealership helped both find a good substitute we liked and was at least at the top end of our affordability.

Ride smoothness

Good, comfortable for long trip with good ability to safely tow if needed.

Safety & braking

Nice roomy, comfortable interior makes passengers at least feel safet - later read about the rollover safety for most SUV;s - NOT impressive.

Why Not the 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer?

Materials & workmanship

Where do I start: Overall it appears designed for limited life: 1) Left wheel bearing 2X in 100K 2) fan clutch/water pump/timing belt @ 60K 3) Irid. plugs ($25 per) die @60K ~$300 4) Healights @ 7 yrs- $800 A-Mkt/$1400 Chevy - again designed4failure

Brand reputation & image

I USED to be a Chevy man. Comfortable car for long trips but "long term" maintenance program WAY too expensive - like entire headlamp vs lighbulb. Headlight plug shorts out - spend $400 min to replace assembly. Chevy too expensive to own over 5 year

Powertrain performance

Left wheel bearing assembly seems to be pooly designed. Suspect drive rod is underdesigned resulting rod bending in bearing at mod-torque causing early failure. Looks like one too many competent design engineers got laid off - again designed 4 failure
