360-horsepower 5.0L V8 6-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
Trans temp reached between Yellow & Red when climbing long steep winding highway grade. No load in truck. Happens on the same section of highway every time. Mechanic could not duplicate in a 2 mile drive in town. NOTHING DONE! Once when passing another car stepped hard on gas to downshift and pass, trans when to a "neutral" position, rpms when to about 5000 before I backed out, once rpms dropped trans when back to high gear. Mechanic could not duplicate it on 2 mile drive. NOTHING DONE!
On accel from a stop, clunk felt in drive train. Cleaned and lubed splines of drive shaft slip yolk per TSB 12-7-13. Repair drive shaft boot. When slowing to a stop at about 2 or 3 mph feels like transmission will not disengage. Vehicle jerks then slows normally to a stop. Advise 110812A Reprogram PCM and TCM, perform adaptive strategy learn.
Bad batch of transmissions from 4/11/11 to 6/8/11 caused transmission pump leaks. Fixed under TSB.
Harsh shift. Fixed by lubing slip joint and reprogramming transmission.
Transmission not shifting. Transmission pump replaced.
Oil leak @ bell housing. Dealer investigated and found a TSB for the front pump on the tranny. Bad batch of pumps around the time my truck was built. Dealer replaced pump and tranny pan gasket.
After the pump replacement, there is a loud resonanting vibration/noise when the engine/transmission is cold and the RPM's about 850. This is especially noticeable when backing out of the garage first thing in the morning. Bolts tightened.
Oil leak @ bell housing. Front pump leaking again. Replaced pump assembly and main transmission housing, seals, filter, etc.
Truck would lurch forward after a full stop. 1-2 SHIFT VALVE STICKING IN BORE CLEANED AND RECONDITIONED MAIN CONTROL. REINSTALLED REFILLED AND ROAD TEST VEHICLE RESET KAM AND REFLASHED TO LATEST CALIBRATION.
Transmission was experiencing a rough 2-1 downshift. Service repair bulletin existed for known problem with limited number of 6R80 transmissions - friction plate replacement done.
The rear seal bearing needed repairing as water had entered it.
Rear end was clunking when going into gear. They replaced the left axle, shimmed the driveshaft, adjusted back lash, replaced ring and pinion.

Ring and pinion seal leaking. Repaired under drive train warranty.
Transmission leak and shuttering while driving. Dealer replaced pump and seal as per TSB 11-8-4.
