2013 Honda Accord 4dr Sedan

189-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD

7700 mi Verify normal operation of variable-displacement system in cold weather. Honda techs worked with TechLine to diagnose. New V6 Accord off truck showed same behavior. Operation more pronounced in cold temps, but otherwise normal. Seatbelt/power "ON"/headlight warning chime sounded like it might fail. Again, techs checked with Honda TechLine, and found that cold weather could cause the behavior.
10000 mi Cowl trim piece was loose and "squeaking" on interior. Found that the part is warped, and a new one is on order. Transmission seems to make a couple more "clunks" than usual. (Forgot to tell them that I heard this with the window down! ;-) ) Note made in the car's record, just in case. Clockspring/cable reel noisy when turning wheel. Tested new Accord V6, and it too made the noise, to a lesser degree. May be covered under TSB, dealer has documented it, and I'll watch the Netz for remedies to suggest. Hairline crack in bezel over center-stack multi-Information display screen. May have it rectified later--dealer documented it, and is willing to do the repair (and Honda will honor the warranty even on this).
15000 mi

US $100
Dealer replaced cowl piece. Rattle now almost nonexistent--the whole piece makes slight movements every so often when VERRRRY cold! No longer a major issue! :-) Dealer double-checked SRS clockspring noise per TSB, but did nothing to re-route cable, but may have lubricated things a little--whatever the case, the noise is somewhat quieter. Had a tech listen to transmission while test-driving after other repairs. Nothing unusual, but I was assured that Honda's powertrain warranty of 5 years/50K miles would handle future problems. Wanted dealer to perform infotainment update per TSB--they would not, unless I show a specific problem. (This is the only area where my dealer's given me consistent pushback.)
18000 mi Clockspring replaced per TSB for spontaneous horn activation (which my car's VIN matched, and not the TSB for noisy cable reel itself), but still noisy. Will mention it @ next oil change, but likely will just live with it. :-( Occasionally, the Adaptive Cruise Control will not engage after a vehicle start followed by immediate shift into "Drive." Techs found code related to debris blocking millimeter-wave radar sensor. Could not duplicate.
21000 mi Honda reflashed the Electric Power Steering to prevent a no-assist condition in the event of system "fail-soft." (Torque sensor failure, angle sensor, other.) Done per letter sent from Honda. Listed as TSB. Dealer fixed loose overhead console which had "unsnapped" in the upper-right corner. (I couldn't snap it back in, and didn't want to risk breaking something, even though I have a Honda-certified trim tool!) :-)
25000 mi Infotainment system needed reflashing to current version to correct occasional Bluetooth issues and loss of "Favorites" per TSB.rnrnDealer had been reluctant to do this until problems surfaced.
28700 mi Horn started sounding intermittently, per TSB previously mentioned. Dealer ordered new wiring harness for steering wheel controls.
32000 mi Horn started sounding spontaneously occasionally again. Head tech at dealer adjusted contacts on back of airbag.
45000 mi Right rear wheel bearing was vibrating. Dealer replaced under warranty
49000 mi P/S went out suddenly, no cause known. Rack replaced. NHTSA investigation is ongoing for this known problem. Honda covered all but $50 of cost. Audio/backup camera system replaced. Was documented under warranty, so replacement was paid by Honda.

189-horsepower 2.4L I4 4-speed automatic FWD

2000 mi Engine has a miss. Worse when cold.
10000 mi Replaced transmission valve body. Honda Technical Service Bulletin. Hesitation, mostly when the car's warming up. Occasionally the car would not engage reverse when it was cold until pressure seemed to build in the system. Grinding noise and lack of acceleration on freeway and backing out from the new valve body. Honda instructed the dealer to drain the fluid, check for metal or debris and refill. The car still hesitates when cold and occasionally when warm.
11000 mi Front wheel bearing, fixed grinding noise noted earlier.
14000 mi Honda just came out with another fix, new valve body and reprogram the computer. It fixed about 80% of the hesitation.
5960 mi The gaz consumption statistics do not transfer to the B trip history display. Honda is still stying to find what is the problem.
11160 mi Same problem. The gaz consumption statistics.
19840 mi Bracket in the front Dashboard went loose and became very Noisy. Have been fixed.

1000 mi Steering wheel was rubbing. Dealership made some adjustments to part of the column that wasn't installed correctly. Fixed.
Dull spots on RF fender and hood, small white flecks in LR quarter panel Dealer sent car to body shop, body shop repainted LR quarter and polished hood and RF fender, but polishing process left swirl marks in paint. Took car to professional detailer to correct swirls created by body shop attempt to address original issue.
29940 mi Warning on dash "Check Charging System", charging system checked OK but sensor on battery was faulty and sending false alarm. First tried updated PGM-FI software per TSB. Then replaced sensor on battery.

Heat was not blowing even when car was warm. Coolant flush seemed to fix most of the problem. Apparently there was a significant clog in the line.
77700 mi

US $300
Bad wheel bearing. Shop damaged the ABS sensor during removal (said it was 'inevitable') and parts are apparently impossible to find. Clock spring issue causing airbag light to go on. Started to happen just after using horn but became a persistent issue.
82000 mi P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire - second time the car has thrown this code/error in 80K miles. Problem fixed under class-action settlement at no cost. Plugs replaced, piston rings damaged as a result of issue and replaced. Drivers back support had come loose inside seatback and would 'collapse' when weight was put onto it, making it cave in and become nearly impossible to sit in for more than 30 minutes. Upon return from piston ring/misfire repairs there was a strong shudder when AC compressor was on. Took it to dealer to ensure they were aware problem was new since pickup. They claimed it only needed a tightened motor mount and sent me off. Earlier cause of rattle post misfire repair returned as a mis-installed tensioner pulley and when the dealer was driving it off to the service lot the pulley completely failed and it threw all belts off. 3rd trip originating from misfire.
82700 mi Same issue as before with seatback collapsing. Dealer stated that issue was more major than before and would require a $2800 seat replacement to fix as there is no other solution.

92000 mi Steering column needed to be replaced. Clicking noise in steering column.
107000 mi Growling noise from engine at idle. Replaced a belt tensioner. Mechanic noticed small leaks in power steering pump and steering rack
1000 mi Had to have a loud rattle sound from the rear shelf fixed.
15000 mi Rattle at back shelf (wasn't completely fixed the first time right after purchase). This time they fixed it. It was the GPS DVD player in the trunk that was rattling. They added padding around it.  White smoke came out of the tail pipe when starting the morning before. They found that the engine is burning oil. They have a bulletin that says they have seen this problem with the V6 engines and do not have a fix for it yet.
33000 mi The computer had to be reprogrammed because the old program caused excessive oil consumption and fauled the plugs. Plugs were replaced.
50000 mi Took the car in for a roaring noise coming from the rear of the car. Honda engineers determined the transmission had to be replaced. After they replaced the transmission, the sound was still there. After the transmission replacement didn't fix the problem, took the car in again for the roaring noise coming from the rear of the car. They replaced the right rear wheel bearing, which fixed the problem.
66000 mi The leather seats (front and back) have mulitple wear marks and the center arm rest is bubbling/delamenating and ripping. The dealer took pictures and will ask Honda what they will do. The is a service bullitin for this problem.

59500 mi The engine was misfiring had oil consumption prob and the spark plugs were fouled. Honda said that the computer needed to be reprogrammed and that 4 spark plugs needed to be installed. They said it will fix the problem but I have my doubts.
62700 mi The engine is consuming oil but not at the rate they say is excessive. I believe a quart every 2000 miles is too much. They say that is normal. This is why I will not buy another Honda.
