Brakes/VCM

Ask the People Who Own One:

2017 - 2024 Honda Ridgeline
RustoRinco

My 2019 has horrible brakes, long pedal travel and very mushy soft pedal. Drove others and pretty much the same. Second qustion concerns VCM. I use a device to make sure VCM does not kick in. Any other have VCM issues.

I don't like this site that much but there are others reporting the issues you are having, so you are not alone. This is from carcomplaints.com where there have been mulitple complaints of the brake pedal falling to the floor on the 2017 model:

https://www.carcomplaints.com/Honda/Ridgeline/2017/brakes/service_brakes.shtml

RepairPal is another site to look for others with problems. Unfortunately on the Ridgeline there are no complaints about the brakes but about other concerns.

So check out the link above from car complaints. Not sure if it helps but there are others out there with similar concerns.

You are smart for disabling the VCM. It has been known to cause engine problems on older Ridgelines. There is a plug and play solution which does it well publicized:

https://www.vcmtuner.com/

And there is a page descibing what happens if you DON"T disable it:
