Reviewed: 2006 Hyundai Accent

4dr Sedan turbocharged 109hp 1.5L I4 Diesel 5-speed manual FWD

Why the 2006 Hyundai Accent?

Powertrain performance

Really good power from the 1.5L diesel. Chip tuning increases from 110hp to (said) 137hp, and the car is really brisk. It matches the 140hp Audi A4 in rolling sprints. From zero it lags.

Fuel economy

Directly related to driving style, of course. 3.9L/100km achieved with smoothest driving prior to chiptuning and 4.5L/100km after - determined based on 800-900 km drives between refuelling.

Price or payments

Cheap car.

Why Not the 2006 Hyundai Accent?

Handling

Small OEM tires, needs at least 185/60/R15 for ok stability. Car leans too much in corners, not stiff enough. Had to put 3.5 pressure into the tyres (door indicator says 2.1, but I was still in range of tyre manufacturer max value) to get more stable.

Dealer practices

Expensive servicing.

Exterior styling

Looks like a cheap car, which it is.
