Why the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Why Not the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Reliability & durability

As I said this is our fourth Jeep and one must be prepared for poor reliability. Chrysler does not seem to be able to build a reliable vehicle. I don't know if it is poor quality control, poor parts supplier, poor training of assembly line workers

Brand reputation & image

Chrysler needs to step up and stand behind their vehicles if the are going to sell $45-50K vehicles they need to improve they service and act like a premium car manufacturer.

Audio & nav systems

The nav system (730N-RHR) is glitchy and is a finger pointing exercise between SiriusXM and Chrysler. Updates are infrequent and also glitchy. Bluetooth is also glitchy. Very poor service on something that has been around since 2005.

Dealer practices

Buying my Jeeps has never been fun. This last time was the best of all but it still took over five hours from start to finish and I had swapped emails with the sales manager for two weeks before buying. I did get a good deal in the end.

Materials & workmanship

I have had two problems: A bent shaft in the transfer case at 310 miles, fixed under warranty and a random failure of the key fob starting at 1100 miles. Not fixed yet because it is currently OK - able to get working by removing and replacing battery.

I'm looking at buying a 2011 Overland. I was curious why you are loyal to the jeep if you said it's not reliable. I love the look and features of the overland, but it's a moot point if the vehicle itself isn't reliable. Any advice or feedback would be appreciated!

Not much to add. Had one more problem - a 4WD sensor failed and replaced under warranty. I would recommend insisting on a complete Carfax on any used vehicle that I was considering buying, especialy a 4WD.

As to why loyal to Jeep - already answered that in the "Why the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee" section.
