black paint over the drivers door is bubbling The leather on the drivers seat is flaking.. It seems to be cause by the seat belt rubbing on it.
Seems the rear right px seatback is not adjusted properly and rattles over bumps and with body flex Right front door strap bolt loose so when door opens the metal strap would not catch the door, would slide and would clunk as the strap hit the end of the bolt.
Seat actually had something internally loose with was causing the rattle. Right rear seat back swapped from another new car, all goo now, no noises after 1000Kms
Blower motor electrical whine. Blower motor replaced. Front seat fabric wearing prematurely - fabric was bunching up along top of seat cushion. Fabric was resecured to the seat.
Automatic shifting from second to third gear yields a loss in power and hesitation. Excessive wind noise at highway speeds between 50 and 70mph. Driver's-side door only; passenger side does not exhibit this problem.
Installed additional weather stripping along driver's-side door using self-stick weather stripping.
Excessive wind noise still occurring on driver's side at and above 55MPH. Noise does not occur on passenger-side of vehicle. Additional weatherstripping installed to no avail.

Had to replace an entire side light assembly on passenger side of car. It was full of moisture.
Severe rattle in the dash. Right side near windshield. They could not fix it. Have to take it back and leave it. They have to remove the whole dash. Driver door lock sticks. Engine bogs or hesitates at take off in lower gears as accelerator is pressed hard.

We will see if the rettle has been successfully repaired.
Same rattle in upper right dash. Kept car 18 days. Rattle came back five days later, in early August. back with me.Complained to KIA motors. A Tech rep is to get back and set up a meeting.

After a long discussion with the dealer, he admitted that the paint quality of the Kia Soul is in his words "soft" and that they have had other complaints. Same for glass quality of front windshield. He took pictures of the problem areas.
Dealer replaced drivers side inside door handle as chrome was peeling off.

Front driver and passenger door handles had always felt rough and eventually the paint peeled off revealing plastic underneath and a sharp ridge that cut my hand. Door handles replaced under warranty
Water leak into interior primarily in the rear passenger seat area floor. Service Tech unable to determine the location of the leak. No repair completed. Still leaks during rainfall.
Reoccuring water leak from top of backlite
Drive side headlamp had moisture within glass. Dealer replaced under warranty.
Lost the right side windshield "A" pillar molding when getting an air blast from a tractor trailer. Got one online. Used black duct tape until part arrived to keep wind noise less noticeable.
Glove box light would not go off. Dealer replaced the glove box under warranty. Parts had to be ordered, so a second trip was required.
Back up camera failed. New camera ordered under warranty. Second trip needed as parts needed to be ordered.
Radio failed to save selected stations, clock time was incorrect and finally no sound. Repair cost was for diagnostic work only. Kia are replacing the radio no charge, as a goodwill jesture.
Fuel filler door failed to open at gas station. Finally popped open but no repeat. This happened twice before but months ago.
Visit to dealer, lube was no help. Replacement needed at $365 tax in. All labour, only $61 in parts. Now 142000 km.
Routine service LOF, brake service, rattle in rear on bumps. The rattle seemed to be related to the muffler. It was investigated and some minor work was done. Some improvement was made. Now it is back, same as before. Call from dealer to advise me the Instrument cluster has failed! $1300 for replacement + $ 300 service. Total this trip $2000! End of the road for this vehicle. No more Kia for me.
Wobbling noise from front when going over small bumps. Recommended repair was to the replace the sway bar links. Also replaced a leaking PVC valve on the transmission. Handles like new and improved gas milage bonus. An OK repair at 155,000 km.

Fixed error in displaying MPG (went from ~4 high to within 1)
Exterior trim panels on A-pillar were pulling away from body. Dealer replaced. Cruise control switch was intermittantly not engaging. Dealer replaced.
Misfire related to GDI fuel system, replaced injectors and DI fuel rail. Removed head and cleaned carbon deposits off of valve stems because of build up from GDI poor design.
All but drivers power locks did not function. Tech greased all connectors and ran diagnostics and greasing the connectors fixed the problem. Drivers seat squeaks. Seat track ordered, not fixed at this time.
Door locks didn't work. They replaced a fusebox which corrected the issue. Took 3 trips and many parts ordered to correct it.
Misfires. Fixed by running carbon cleaner through the motor.

replaced center steering wheel (air bag cover) wrinkles still there - told it is the way the air bag is folded behind trim.
Car wouldn't start (keyed ignition). Engine tried to turn over but wouldn't. Personal mechanic tested battery, charging system, starter - all OK. Turned ignition on few times, car started.
Sunroof switch only works intermittently. Dealer found faulty component. Replacing component under warranty.
Recurring sunroof switch problem. Faulty switch previously replaced. This visit dealer adjusted contacts that were not connecting properly. Sunroof works again (we will see if this repair lasts).
Sunroof switch replaced 3rd time. Still doesn't work as designed. New recall may address the problem. Next service Apr 2015.
Sunroof still not working. Kia not responding to dealer inquiry (they say). Next appt Oct 2015 to diagnose the problem. My opinion - the motor is not working.
Sunroof problem finally fixed! The sunroof motor was locking up preventing the roof from opening. Motor was replaced and sunroof finally works.
The steering columm cover broke. Dealer ordered new parts and replaced for free under warranty.
Dealer keybox had damaged the driver's door seal. Dealer replaced the seal on this visit.
Brake switch sensor was faulty. Was not sensing that brake was depressed and would not turn engine over when push-button start was activated.
Battery cables replaced under warranty
Actuator switch on drivers door malfunctioned Took 3 visits to get actuator switch fixed on door. Serviceman damaged door seals in effecting repair. Took 2 visits until they believed me and replaced door seal
Same problem as before. Pushed ignition switch and door actuator switches blew again. Same main module that electrically controls door switches no longer working. Door locks manually unusable - unable to open door with key fob
B C M module gone again for 3rd time in 6 months. Part on order and subsequent to installation dealership will run diagnostics again as the problem seems to be initiated by the push button start sending a surge through the B C M.
4th BCM in car. Took it to a different dealer. Car was in for 4 days as previous dealer's mechanics has glued all the parts together in the door when they repaired the door seal. This dealer found it when they tested all the wiring
Body Control Module went for 5th time in 6 months. This time the door harness was replaced, the fuse box and the BCM twice as the first diagnostic results were not satisfactory. Most of the 3 weeks the car was in the shop was waiting parts
Back up camera (factory installed) seal failed. New back up camera installed.
BCM went yet again. Kia wanted car at dealer to retrace all of the wiring for the 3rd time. I wasn't prepared to be without my car for 4 weeks again and sold the car as is. Door still leaking despite being fixed twice.
Rear wiper motor making grinding noise. Problem was dried out rubber gasket. Dealership took motor apart, lubed gasket and re-assembled. Very quiet now.
Shift skirt replacement to fix 'missing' first gear when coming to a stop Radio was having issues with steering wheel control, volume down instead of up, switching modes instead of channels. Replaced radio

check engine light came on saying that the car was taking to long to warm up. The right rear wheel was damaged like it was curbed and the dealer replaced it out of their pocket. This occured in December 2009 when the vehicle was new.

Scratches on driver side, inside door panel. Panel was ordered under warranty.
The door panel was installed in less than 30 minute and I was completely happy with the results.
Rear wiper mechanism grinds and sounds like the gears are slipping.
Grinding sound from rear windshield wiper. They had to lubricate a rubber piece in the gear mechanism.
CD player would overheat, stop working and not eject the disc. Dealer ordered replacement, brought the car back the following week and replacement was installed within a few hours.
noticed a rattling in the front of the car. dealer found a loose bolt under the hood that was holding a shield on. tightened the bolt and no more noise.
Seat bottom needed to be replaced due to squeaking/creaking when driving.
Brake pedal makes squeeking noises when pressed and released. Lubricated system.
Master cylinder damaged by lubricants used in earlier repair, new part installed and problem resolved.

Transmission was slipping and surging. There was a TSB on this problem which needed a flash update. Car runs beautifully now.
Electronic stability control warning light malfunctioned

Premature degradation of spark plugs shorted out engine coil pack. New spark plugs were installed snd will be examined every 6 thousand miles for plugs burning out.
Loud air duct noises when in air turbulance or behind semi trucks
interior mirror loose. Replaced
Never had a problem requiring repair, but the interior was the most scratch prone interior I've ever seen. Slightly above lightly scratching your nails on the interior leaves permanent scratches. Heard a rumor they changed the plastic formulation later.

There was a rattle inside the front passenger's side door panel. They took apart the seat, dash, and door panel to locate the problem. It was a loose piece that they tied down. This solved the problem.
Since the recall repair on the speaker lights, they have been blinking on and off when the car is running. Dealer was able to recreate the problem, tightened some wiring harnesses. Problem returned within 1 week. Need to make new appt.

Headlight was not positioned correctly in housing leaving a 1" gap between metal and light. Dealer claims it is fixed but it is still uneven and doesn't match the headlight in the housing on the other side.
Car was dead. Had Kia roadside assistance out 2x in 2 days. They found a blown fuse (Ignition 2) under the hood. Replaced fuse. It blew again by the time we got car home. Dealer says "can't duplicate problem". Replaced fuse again. :( Car died again (less than a week after being told at dealer that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle) and had to be towed. This time dealer replaced starter and ignition. So far car has not died again. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Car lost headlights while driving and then car died. This has happened multiple times. Dealer replaced wiring harness this time. I have no confidence that this car is fixed. It is not safe to drive. I am going to pursue a Lemon Law claim
A-pillars came off of car while driving down the highway
The transmission,when put into drive(and only drive),will not respond,then BANG,into gear it goes. It doesn't do this all the time,which is making it hard to figure out. I have taken the soul back to the dealer,and they "flashed" the tranny,but to no effect.It is now worse.
I am going back again to have it looked at.(third time now).
The transmission is still doing the same thing! Head office is now involved,but I'm not getting anywhere with them.
Sure Kia has a good warranty,but if they keep denying the problem is there,what good is it?
The dealer has replaced the transmission,and it seems to be fine,right now.
The front passenger side speaker was not working. The driver's seat lower cushion needed replacing. All done under warranty.
The left and right axles had to be replaced due to rips in cv joint boots.
Calipers pins required lubrication as they were noisy when brakes were activated.
Rear wiper spray nozzle mounting loose. Clip was installed incorrectly during manufacturing. Mechanic reinstalled the clip properly.
Currently dealing with KIA Canada regarding poor quality interior door panels which scratch easily.
Creak in suspension or body. sound was not noticable due to rainy weather. Dealer attempted to fix but problem returned when weather dried out.
Creaking noise in seats when 2 occupants and cornering. Stability control activation light would come on when driving on dry pavement. To turn off light, ignition would have to be turned off and car re-started.

Sunroof tracks were cracked on both sides causing a popping sound when you raised the Sunroof in the vent position.

Driver door panel replaced under warranty; armrest had split open on top where elbow rested: straight line slit. I now avoid exerting any weight on the new (same as OEM) armrest.
ESP light intermittently on when shouldn't have been. After several checks for this problem (during oil changes) since purchasing the car, finally a fault with the brake light sensor was detected; sensor replaced under warranty.
Cranked, no start. Plenty of battery charge for accessories. Towed by KIA Roadside: said engine flooded (by tow driver), started after draining. 2nd dealer days later: perhaps not quite enough charge for all components. No issues since.
