Why the 2004 Mazda RX-8?

Powertrain performance

Revs, revs, revs, this car absolutely lives and dies by the high revs that the engine loves. Unlike a conventional engine, the rotary has no durability issues from maintaining high revs or for that matter suffers much in the gas mileage department.

Why Not the 2004 Mazda RX-8?

Brand reputation & image

My personal biases show here being someone that drives almost exclusively European cars. There is nothing I hate more than under lighting and flame kits on exhausts and the RX-8 fall smack dab into that category.

Powertrain performance

Zero torque on a 1.3l. No shock there but it does get old in traffic not being able to leave the RX-8 in a gear and just going. You will be rowing through gears constantly while navigating even light traffic fluctuating only 15mph.

Quietness

This is not a quite car, at all. Any sort of performance tire on this car and it gets even worse. I consider this a reasonable trade for the low weight and amazing performance but if your car being loud while cruising bothers you, look elsewhere.
