Mercedes-Benz R-Class Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 4dr SUV turbocharged 210hp 3.0L V6 Diesel
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Excellent. We average 27 on the highway travelling at 70+mph see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2009 4dr SUV 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Pleasantly surprised by first tankful. 16.2 mpg in the city. Mostly used "comfort" setting which starts out in 2nd gear and shifts early. With this nonaggressive profile, city driving economy is improved. Premium gives better gas mileage than regular (about 5% on comparable tankfuls). On Comfort setting, no difference in performance is noted. see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2008 4dr SUV 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
It easily gets to 20 mpg on highway. About 18 on mixed driving see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2007 4dr SUV turbocharged 215hp 3.0L V6 Diesel
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Excellent fuel economy with the diesel, especially when driven gently. Also amazing power at the same time see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2007 4dr SUV 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
15mpg city....25 mpg highway....combined is around 17-18 mpg. Not bad considering how heavy this car is. Of course i am very light to the pedal trying to keep my mpg high. Gas is too expensive nowadays so if i don't need to be fast, i am keeping it steady. see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2006 4dr SUV 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Much better than expected for a very large and long vehicle. Close to 25MPG on longer trips. see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review

2007 4dr SUV 268-horsepower 3.5L V6

Pretty poor for a 3.5L. see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2007 4dr SUV 302-horsepower 5.0L V8
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
F-E is poor because of the weight to power ratio. The vehicle is heavy. With the available power, it is easy to drive faster and to maneuver through slower traffic. Frequent acceleration results in lower gas mileage. see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2006 4dr SUV 268-horsepower 3.5L V6
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
I would probably choose a diesel next time for efficiency reasons - but the additional premium fuel required in the V6 is negligible once the car is paid for....soon now. Very lively engine too. I foresee a hybrid R class type vehicle after 2011... see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review
2006 4dr SUV 302-horsepower 5.0L V8
7-speed shiftable automatic AWD
only 17 mpg highway see full Mercedes-Benz R-Class review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Real Gas Mileage of the Saturn Outlook

Saturn Outlook Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2009 4dr SUV 288-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Too Early to judge (625 miles on her). Initially, 1st tank 15.6 mpg. I am attributing the low mpg due to the honeymoon of a new vehicle and sitting idling for extended times while figuring out how everything works (and showing features to others). see full Saturn Outlook review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
The sticker said 24. I get an honest 24 and 25 on hyw ( I drive at speed limits) MILAGE AROUND TOWN IS 17 PLUS see full Saturn Outlook review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6

I get between 22 and 24 on the highway and 18 to 19 around town. see full Saturn Outlook review
2008 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
For highway driving -- which our primary [90%?] use of this vehicle -- I get 22-24 mpg. For an AWD with the capacity of this vehicle, that is a very competitive mph. see full Saturn Outlook review
2007 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
For the size of vehicle fuel economy is more than expected. see full Saturn Outlook review
2007 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Good balance between towing capacity and fuel economy. For a rather large vehicle I think 21-22 on hwy is pretty good, and 12-14 towing the boat. Most of my driving is highway commute, but it seems as though shorts trips around town the mpg is lower. see full Saturn Outlook review

Still too new to tell, so far only 13+ mpg in town.(only 2600+ mi so far) I live in hilly country so 19+ hwy is still acceptable. I have seen 21+ Hwy see full Saturn Outlook review
2007 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6

well, i guess its just that with the prices of gas the economy would have been ok, 2 years ago, but not today.. i actually dont do as much after work these days cause of it see full Saturn Outlook review
2007 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
I was used to the Saturn Vue which got between 22 - 25 miles per gallon. Now my Outlook is getting less than 15 in the city. It will take a little getting used to, but we decided to sacrifice fuel economy for a roomier vehicle. see full Saturn Outlook review
2007 4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
mpg is ok for a crossover SUV but with gas prices of today vehicles need to get much better gas mileage. see full Saturn Outlook review
2007 4dr SUV 270-horsepower 3.6L V6

Fuel economy was not as high as that of the Sienna, and in addition, many of the estimates seemed too high and were not supported by actual user feedback/comments found on Internet site reviews see full Saturn Outlook review
