Reviewed: 2009 Nissan 370Z

2dr Hatch 332-horsepower 3.7L V6 6-speed manual RWD

Why the 2009 Nissan 370Z?

Price or payments

Half the price of the Cayman, terrific performance at the price. Has all the performance goodies (hot engine, 6 speed manual, forged wheels, limited slip differential, big brakes) albeit at a step down in quality from the Porsche

Powertrain performance

Visceral and exciting to drive. Much less refined than the Porsche, but that is part of its charm. Rorty engine, with strong thrust and rapid lunge to the redline. Linear power delivery. Never boring, but perhaps a bit wearing.

Handling

Steering tight & direct, always know what the road is doing and where the grip is. Great feedback and very high level of grip with huge tires. However, much less refined handling than the Cayman, especially on bumpy roads.

Reliability & durability

My last two Nissans have each gone over 150,000 miles. Both were easy keepers, reliable, and inexpensive to service. I expect the same from this one. Servicing costs on the Cayman are a nightmare by comparison, despite long recommended service interval
