I don't own one, but reliability on Consumer Reports is some of the worst I've seen looking at 2002-2017 Jettas. Consistently average to well-below average (poor), the worst rating. I'd skip the Jetta and get a Civic, Corolla, Mazda 3, Elantra, etc.

Main problems with the Jetta are engine stalling leading to engine failure and the radio not working leading to replacement of the head unit. Newer ones have premature clutch wear, too.
