Summer home extra vehicle

The short answer is, yes you should be fine with an '0X 200k mile crv or rav4 if youre not putting on a lot of miles. Maybe a Honda Element would be good too. The long answer is that you might be even better off with something older, cooler and generally stock that will appreciate in value. The obvious vehicles for this strategy are more sporty/smaller than the a crv/rav4 (think Acura integras, Honda preludes, Toyota Supras, Nissan 240sx) but maybe you could do OK with something like an old Jeep, a Suzuki Samurai, a VW Bus, Civic wagon, something like that. It would obviously take more effort and probably maintenance $, but you could come out ahead in the long run because your vehicle should gain value.

Could be okay, could be awful. There are no quarantees once a car is past 200k.

Where is this summer home? Do you need AWD?

If not, perhaps a Pontiac Vibe or Toyota Matrix (essentially the same vehicle)? Or a Honda Fit?

There is no need fow AWD in Florida (I'm a born and raised Floridian) Get a large sedan that you ca enjoy the drive and traffic with. Also to keep fuel costs down. Most 200k vehicles are going to have major repair needs and if the vehicle started out over $20k new, you are looking at high repair bills.

Get a good size sedan with FANTASTIC air conditoning!!!
