Bought this car from a "large and reputable" Jim Pattison Toyota dealership in May with good faith and confidence, looking forward to years of adventures and enjoyment. Odometer showing 141000 when I picked it up, supposed to be low for a Toyota. But.........transmission simply gave up on my 31st day of ownership, after 2200 kilometer of highway driving and less than 50km of not-so-rough dirt road. It lived in the shop for 3 weeks and I just got it back yesterday with a rebuilt transmission and new torque converter. Global Warranty is supposed to pay the repair bill but the shop manager is still struggling with them on the payment issue. Here is my advice: If you are thinking about buying any Toyota, buy it with model year earlier than 2000 and make sure its built in Japan.

Dealer practices
Dealer practices: Much worse Better Worse

when I bought this car, I did not want to buy the extanded warranty, but the person pushed it so hard and even got their GM out to talk with me. Before I thought they just want to make a another sale but now I realize they probably know this car is a lemon and they don't want me to be on their door steps chasing them........what crooks!!

Audio & nav systems
Audio & nav systems: Worse Better Worse

the 10 speaker JBL audio system sounds terrible. just like any cheap 2 speaker system

Brand reputation & image
Brand reputation & image: Worse Better Worse

what a insult to Toyota!! today's Toyota is no long the Toyota as we knew it before.

Safety & braking
Safety & braking: Worse Better Worse

braking is very soft and I have to push the paddle all the way to the floor before I can get any brake. and the dealer said this is normal.
