Safety & braking
great traction on snow and ice, very good anti lock, lots of air bags. brakes charge the battery most of the time, little to no pad wear.
Discounts & incentives
we caught the maximum tax break, free registration, bank incentives for hybrids, all in all ~$5k in incentives
Brand reputation & image
I think Toyotas enjoy a good reputation. ours has been trouble free
Feature availability
good integration of stereo, blue tooth phone, computers, back up cameras, reasonable "premium" sound system. it is a cool car, full of gadgets.
Driving position & visibility
visibility through the windshield corners and blind spots in the mirrors is a draw back. in two years, I still have not gotten used to it and am sometimes still surprised by pedestrians or other cars. this was not evident in a test drive.
Front seat support & comfort
long drives are a pain the .... well, you know. the car is not a comfortable as I would like. limited range of adjustments. Not bad for a couple of hours or even on a easy road trip but, more than 10 hours in a day? not for me. too bad.
