Why the 2011 Toyota Venza?

Reliability & durability

This is the 4th consecutive Toyota or Lexus we have owned. Sought out for our extremely positive experience with regard to reliability. 08 Highlander SR5 gave us 4 yrs of problem free ownership --- Now going on 18 months with Venza of same.

Interior styling

Attractive modern design elements inside and out. Best comp is Volvo XC60 - which is 10-12k more expensive. In my mind the Venza has no direct competition. Wife and I both love it.

Ride smoothness

Just got back from Michigan yesterday - 3.5 hour drive home with cruise set at 75 mph. This is a perfect road trip vehicle for families.

Rear seat room & comfort

Have had many adult passengers in the rear seats - all have commented without prompting on the ample leg room, comfortable seats, and attractiveness of the panoramic glass roof.

Why Not the 2011 Toyota Venza?

Fuel economy

Would like to see Toyota add a hybrid model to the Venza line. If they did I would buy a another one to replace our current 2nd car. As is I am leaning toward a Golf TDI wagon. Highlander hybrid is too pricey for us. Venza gives us 22 mpg combined.

Handling

I generally start to experience speed wobbles on the tall 20 inch tires when I push it over 80 mph. This is not an autobahn cruiser (nor is it marketed as one), but would characterize high speed handling as poorer than average for a CUV.

when coming down a hill slowly and slowing down to almost a stop, but not completely and then stepping on the gas, transmission downshifts with delay when the vehicle is not in complete stop. in other words, engine rpm goes up and no downshifting for 2-3 seconds. this is a problem. 3 times went to the dealer and no solution. vehicle is a 2011 venza with V6 and 6 speed transmission.
