2002 Volkswagen Jetta Pros and Cons at TrueDelta: Owner Pros and Cons by libra70jo2

Handling
nimble handling even on winding road.
Powertrain performance
the 1.8L 180hp turbo engine is quick to accelerate with max torque attained at 2000rpm only, making this car very easy passing on city and highway driving. A joy to drive.
Safety & braking
Steering is very responsive and the brake is short. I used to drive a Camry and braking is no contest vs the Jetta. Camry felt spongy with long pedal travel. jetta has a short pedal travel.
Reliability & durability
Electronics and sensors that breakdown always. My check engine light comes off often since 40,000miles. Parts/repair are more expensive than comparable american or japanese cars. Brake light switch $400+, alternator $600-700+(part itself about $500) etc.
