Reviewed: 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

4dr SUV 220-horsepower 3.2L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range

Why the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg?

Exterior styling

Simple, functional and pleasing without being gawdy.

Interior styling

Again, well optioned, well apointed, smartly thought out, comfortable and well finished.

Powertrain performance

The V6 is not over powered with this heavy vehicle but with the 6 speed and gearing it is very lively and it can pull up to 7000 lbs.

Why Not the 2004 Volkswagen Touareg?

Fuel economy

14-15 mpg in todays market is not very good for an SUV with a V6.

Reliability & durability

There are a lot of electronic do-dads, all very nice to have but the reliability of a great number of them is/hes been less than stellar, with the majority of touaregs having to return to the dealers numerous times during their first year.

Price or payments

The price for a new Touareg puts it quite out of the reach of most SUV buyers. The higher the price the higher the payment. Though for that high price you do get an awesome warranty and vehicle once all of the glitches have been addressed under warranty.
