Trucks are not great daily drivers, but if you need a reliable one the Toyota Tacoma is the best. Buy a Honda Ridgeline if you want some comfort, although it is not meant for heavy duty off-roading and towing. It can still do these things, but not as well as the Tacoma. The Ridgeline is based on a car platform and the Tacoma is based on a truck platform, but both have truck beds. The Honda is better for commuting in decent comfort and the Tacoma is better for off-road and towing. It may be hard to find a Ridgeline because they used to be more popular. These are the 2 most reliable trucks aside from the Toyota Tundra, which seems like overkill for many people.

do you need to tow a boat?
do you need to put larger objects in the bed (for example plywood)
do you live in an area that requires/benefits from 4wd?
do you care if it has a v8 or are you okay with smaller v6 or 4 cyl.

Toyota's pickup trucks have legendary reliability. A week or so ago on a popular car auction site with a comment section, a comment was posted about a Toyota pickup truck that they are like Parrots in that you need to plan what to do with the vehicle should it outlive you.
