What Our Members Are Saying about the Seat Room and Comfort of the 2011 Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport

2011 Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport Seat Room and Comfort: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
CVT AWD
I've driven between the SF Bay Area and San Diego several times with no comfort issues. As a point of comparison, I am comfortable with long drives in a 2002 Honda Civic and I would like to burn the seats in a 2010 Hyundai Tucson. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
I am 6'4" tall and this is one of the few compact cars I fit into easily with room to spare. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
The rear seats actually have enough space to comfortably fit full size adults or child car seats. The doors open wide making ingress and egress easy. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
Amongst small cars, this had quite comfortable rear seat room, which accommodated our car seat better than our previous Volkswagen Jetta. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Sedan 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
Roomy inside, as well as pretty large greenhouse see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2011 Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport Seat Room and Comfort: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2012 4dr Hatch turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Coming from both an MX-5 and Buick Century the cabin of the WRX is very spacious. There is good room for driver and passenger. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
I drove he car for a better part of 2 hours today. The seats were very comfortable all around in rush hour traffic on city and highway roads. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
Seats only adjust two ways, and manual adjustments at that. They're adequate for short trips but uncomfortable if you have to sit for hours. I wish there was an option for multiple power adjustments with memory. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2011 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
There is no lumbar support which makes it tough for drives over 2 hours. The seats could be better for its class. I think Subaru remedied this issue in the new body style, however. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Powertrain of the 2011 Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport

2011 Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport Powertrain: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2012 4dr Hatch turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Very responsive, hitting 3500rpm is about where the turbo kicks in and it is a heck of a ride after that. Otherwise, the powertrain seems to respond well to inputs. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
CVT AWD
The powertrain is adequate for my needs of carrying the family and commuting to work. If you want to engage in some shenanigans when driving solo, just be delicate with the gas pedal. Else it will just generate a lot of noise when you mash the gas pedeal and not much else. The changing from Reverse to Drive can be slow(1-2 seconds), but I've read that it is due to a cold transmission in the morning. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
AWD for Northeast winters was a major selling point, while not sacrificing fuel economy too badly was an additional plus. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Sedan 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
Second generation CVT is great...very smooth and quiet. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
The subaru has proven AWD. The Ford handled very well and even had more power, but I live in a region with a lot of rain and snow. AWD is a trump card. The Subaru's CVT is very refined. It usually leaves you plenty of power to accelerate when you need see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2011 4dr Hatch turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
Lots of power w/very little turbo lag. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2010 4dr Sedan turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
This was the first car I test drove that did not feel like it had a small 4 cylinder engine under the hood. Its acceleration is comparable to or better than the biggest V8s available. The deep growl of the boxer engine is pretty cool, too. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2010 4dr Hatch turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
lots of get up and go. the best all wheel drive system. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2010 4dr Sedan turbocharged 265hp 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
This thing will haul ass, if you want it to. If you just have to commute it will commute happily just like any other car. However if you mash the gas this car will respond with aplomb. Buckets of acceleration, decent mpg for the performance you get. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2011 Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport Powertrain: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
Engine is simply weak. The CVT works well but can only do so much to mask the engine's lack of power. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
Although I am generally very light on the throttle, my wife and I really wish this car had a little more power on tap when needed and that the CVT would wait a little longer before backing off into fuel saver revs when accelerating gently. Secondly, we experience a substantial delay before forward gear is engaged when transitioning between reverse and drive. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2012 4dr Sedan 148-horsepower 2.0L H4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
Engine could use more torque although not a sacrificing mpg. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2011 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
4-speed shiftable automatic AWD
The 4 speed auto does not perform efficiently, although it is fast to shift and quite bulletproof. see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
2010 4dr Hatch 170-horsepower 2.5L H4
5-speed manual AWD
There is no usable power. In every single gear I could put my foot on the ground and barely accelerate until hitting 4000 RPM where it moved more quickly... but still slow. Gearing also was terrible and it felt incredibly slow! see full Subaru Impreza / WRX / Outback Sport review
