Reliability and Durability of the Ford Mustang: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2010 2dr Coupe 210-horsepower 4.0L V6

Much improved interior materials that should last as well as decent to good reliability from last iteration of the Mustang.
2007 2dr Coupe supercharged 500hp 5.4L V8
6-speed manual RWD
Forged-internal engine can withstand any mod you throw at it. Reliability has improved significantly over previous-generation Mustangs.
2007 2dr Convertible 210-horsepower 4.0L V6
5-speed manual RWD
This is my third Mustang. My first two held up very well and I expect no less from this one. I did research reliability before my purchase and found nothing to deter me from my purchase.
2006 2dr Convertible 300-horsepower 4.6L V8
5-speed manual RWD
easy and cheap maintenance
2006 2dr Convertible 210-horsepower 4.0L V6
5-speed automatic RWD
One hiccup when first purchased, since then not a lick of trouble. The chassis is solid.
2006 2dr Convertible 300-horsepower 4.6L V8
5-speed manual RWD
Other than one small electrical issue the car has been flawless.
2005 2dr Coupe 210-horsepower 4.0L V6
5-speed automatic RWD
Front engine, rear wheel drive. Proven and true.
2005 2dr Coupe 300-horsepower 4.6L V8
5-speed manual RWD
A relatively simple car with good performance, yet is cheap to own.
2003 2dr Convertible 190-horsepower 3.8L V6
4-speed automatic RWD
Consumer Reports rated the Mustang V6 as average or above average for reliability.
Reliability and Durability of the Ford Mustang: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2007 2dr Coupe 300-horsepower 4.6L V8
5-speed manual RWD
I have little faith in Ford reliability over the long haul (compared to that of my Toyotas).
2006 2dr Coupe 300-horsepower 4.6L V8
5-speed automatic RWD
At 20,000 miles the AC unit had gone out twice, the fuel system had to be replaced (not just one part, I mean ALL of the fuel system), and the final straw was when the car had an electrical problem no one knew how to fix.
2005 2dr Coupe 210-horsepower 4.0L V6
5-speed automatic RWD
Problems with the CD player, fuel tank, fuel pump, rattling interior/suspension and overall very cheap feeling interior.
2003 2dr Coupe supercharged 390hp 4.6L V8
6-speed manual RWD
usually by 60k miles they squeak or rattle. a usual place for this is the windows, they squeak a lot. also some people with modifications have had belts snap.
