I could have replaced the lifter and cam but chose to replace the motor due to high mileage and metal particles in the oil. The cost of the motor replacement would have been $7k but I chose to replace all hoses, alternator, water pump, thermostat, fan clutch , plugs, coils, etc. If I had just done the lifter and cam the cost woudl have stayed around $1k
