Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen Reliability And Durability: Pros

2011 4dr Wagon 170-horsepower 2.5L I5
6-speed shiftable automatic FWD
I avoided VW products for 30 years until one of their models (the Golf) started posting above-average reliability ratings. Unfortunately, we seem to be having one of the old-style experiences with our Jetta Sportwagen (Golf Wagon here in Canada). We have had continuous repair issues since we drove the car off the lot. full 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen review
2011 4dr Wagon turbocharged 140hp 2.0L I4 Diesel
6-speed automated manual FWD
We suffered one "no start" on this car when it was brand new - a software glitch fixed under warranty. Otherwise, the car has been flawless in the first 18 months. full 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen review

Other than one software glitch when new, this car has given us no problems at all. That is an accomplishment for VW. I have owned Passats and an Audi A4, and both were subject to engine-related recalls. So far, so good with the TDI! (I have found Hondas and Mazdas to be very reliable, but their cars have not appealed to me the way the VW has. full 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen review
2010 4dr Wagon turbocharged 140hp 2.0L I4 Diesel

VW has had some bad years recently, so I was a little nervous about buying this car. So far so good (5500 miles). full 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen review

Clutch pedal broke. Seat belt broke. Very expensive repairs are possible with the diesel engine. full 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen review
