My Subaru just got poor mileage for what I used it for. My average commuting tank was about 21 mpg, which is acceptable, I suppose. But the freeway mileage was horrible -- it never broke 25 mpg for a long freeway trip. Factor in, on top of that, nearly every time I am going somewhere I have a bike or 2 with me. One trip to Portland and back from SLC w/ 2 bikes on the hitch netted an average of 21 mpg for the whole trip. A trip to St. George and back w/ a bike on the roof was 19.5 mpg. Compare to my F150 Ecoboost I\'m driving now ... 18 mpg commuting, 21-22 mpg on every freeway trip I\'ve taken (regardless of how many bikes I have in the bed!), plus far more room in the rear seat, more comfort and way more power.
