TrueDelta Reviews the Real Gas Mileage of the Hyundai Elantra GT

Hyundai Elantra GT Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearComment
2013 Hyundai made the news a few months ago when it had to revise the EPA ratings for many of its cars. To their credit, they acted quickly, and are compensating previous buyers for the difference. Even with the downward revision, the Elantra GT is rated 26 mpg city (27 with the automatic) and 37 mpg highway. These figures are slightly better than those for the Ford Focus, but slightly worse than those for the Mazda3. see full Hyundai Elantra GT review
Hyundai Elantra GT Real Gas Mileage: Cons
YearComment
Hyundai's 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter engine doesn't perform nearly as well in the EPA's tests as the 205-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter engine in the Civic Si: 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway vs. 28 and 38, respectively. The far more potent 306-horsepower Civic Type R manages numbers virtually as good as the Hyundai's. You cannot get the Civic Si with a self-shifting transmission. Step down to the Civic Sport with a 180-horsepower 1.5T and a CVT for EPA ratings of 30 city and 36 highway, each four mpg higher that those of the Hyundai 1.6T-DCT combo. see full Hyundai Elantra GT review

Fuel economy is disappointing. We will be signing up for whatever lawsuit will get us the most money from Hyundai. We would much prefer that the car get the mileage that was advertised. see full Hyundai Elantra GT review
2013 4dr Hatch 148-horsepower 1.8L I4

In mixed but somewhat city biased driving I have been getting 30+mpg. I haven't done any extensive highway driving at this time. see full Hyundai Elantra GT review

TrueDelta Reviews the Real Gas Mileage of the Buick Regal

Buick Regal Real Gas Mileage: Cons
YearComment
2011 The Buick Regal and Chrysler 200 both weigh substantially more than just about any other front-wheel-drive midsize sedan. Add all-wheel-drive, and both weigh nearly two tons. Curb weight is the enemy of fuel economy. The Buick's turbocharged four-cylinder engine is more efficient than the Chrysler's V6, so it has an edge in the EPA's city test, 19 vs. 18 mpg. But the Chrysler's automatic transmission has three extra gears, for a total of nine, so it has the edge on the EPA's highway test, 29 vs. 27 mpg. The Ford Fusion, though far from light, has an edge over both: 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway. see full Buick Regal review

2012 4dr Sedan turbocharged 270hp 2.0L I4

For being a turbo 4, I expected slightly better MPG (I average 26mpg mixed with premium). When adding in the Trifecta Performance tune on the car, I average around 29mpg, with the added HP/TQ. What gives, GM? Uncage this beast! see full Buick Regal review
2011 4dr Sedan 182-horsepower 2.4L I4

City EPA mileage was lower than I would expect for a four cylinder--should easily best 20 vice 19. see full Buick Regal review

It gets 22 in town, 25 on the highway. see full Buick Regal review
