2006 Ford Freestyle 4dr Wagon

203-horsepower 3.0L V6 CVT FWD

41000 mi

US $430
Premature replacement of rear brakes caused by a "frozen" right rear caliper. Included both rear rotors, right rear caliper kit and pads.
42000 mi A few weeks later, right rear brake started overheating and sticking. Replaced RR caliper and pads again, assuming new caliper was bad. Also cleaned brake hose after mechanic learned from Ford about a rash of rear brake hose probs on 2005-07 Freestyles. RR caliper stuck again. Cleaned out brake hose again and ordered a new one.
42000 mi

US $80
Replaced the hose. After the hose was removed, it was obvious the interior was deteriorated and the sidewall was collapsing. This appears to have taken care of the problem.
83700 mi

US $800
New caliper, pads and rotors.
82000 mi

US $25
Replaced passenger side front brake hose. The hose had developed a bulge near the end of the hose closest to the caliper.
116000 mi

US $8
Driver's side front brake hose had a bubble in it. Replaced the hose and bled brakes. Good as new now.
