As my observation goes, my CX9 shows brake wear irregularly around 30,000 miles. It becomes unbearable at 45,000 miles. First time, I got the rotor turned and new brake shoes. this time I got the whole set, and got good discount.

Right front brake caliper was sticking. Noticed sluggishness and felt slight roar at higher speeds. Required new brake pads, new right caliper and rotor (replaced in 2015), and new brake lines/hoses.
