Front drive-shaft u-joint failed, drive-shaft rotated freely and fractured the transmission case. BMW has since issued a recall for this failure mode. Transmission, under shields, and drive-shaft were replaced by BMW. The new transmission case didn't properly seal from the previous repair and a transmission fluid leak was observed. An attempt to reseal the transmission was made but failed. A 3rd transmission was installed and the leak was resolved. |
