I had to replace the Vapor Canister Purge Valve again (this is the second time in less than a year) to fix a P0496 error code. I do NOT overfill this vehicle at gas stations, and I drive it about 99% of the time, so I do not think that overfilling is the reason why this went bad again (it could have been the reason the first time though.) The first time that I repaired this, I used a cheap part from Auto Zone that was made in China. This time I used the original AC Delco part (made in Mexico). I'm hoping for better results (the one from AC Delco was actually cheaper when purchased on Amazon.) This specific error code causes very hard starts after you refuel. It is a super simple part to replace. Literally took me less than 5 minutes. Just pop the engine cover off, unclip the electronics from the sensor (right on top of the engine), unscrew the part and then reverse those directions. But to have to do it twice in less than a year is very disappointing. I hope it does not show up again in another 9 months. |
