turbocharged 220hp 2.0L I4 8-speed shiftable automatic AWD

Engine missing badly and EPC light illuminated on dash. LImped to the Audi dealer who, after several days, said that the rings on cylinder 3 are bad and I needed a new engine. $18K. I said no thanks, paid their diagnostic fee and took it to an independent repair shop. Took Audi to independent repair shop after Audi dealer said it needed a new engine. The repair shop removed carbon deposits from valves and cylinder head and replaced the timing belt. Engine now runs like new. Total cost $3500. |
The dealership found an issue with the Camshaft Adjuster Bridge. Rare enough that they called Audi and sent them pictures and then got their technical inputs. Replaced part and changed the oil. |

Replaced leaking thermostat housing. Water pump was replaced as well, as is standard practice when performing repairs such as this. |
