2018 Honda Odyssey 4dr Minivan, ext.

280-horsepower 3.5L V6 9-speed shiftable automatic FWD

11500 mi nav system was not working correctly
22000 mi Bad battery replaced
1000 mi Bluetooth audio streaming dropped out for 2 seconds every 10 seconds to 1 minute. After holding the car for a week, the service technician claimed the two phones in the family were bad. Car was returned without any repair. Both phones worked in an older Odyssey, the 2017 Accord loaner, my 2012 Mazda, and several Bluetooth devices at home.
20000 mi The rear blower was making a high pitched squeal
22000 mi

US $79
Navagation system stopped working
27000 mi HVAC/Audio System failed - blank screen and locked out. Required trip to dealer to reset/update.
31000 mi When sitting for more than one day the car would not start. Plenty of power for radio and to open doors but not to start. Dealer tested and it failed. Battery was replaced under warranty.
35000 mi Satellite radio antenna
5580 mi Passenger door window was not responding to driver switches. Took two days as they took a long time diagnosing and then couldn’t get the part until following day. Covered by warranty.
12000 mi Addressing recall on power sliding doors, but door still doesn't shut correctly all the time.
16632 mi High-pitched noise coming from rear blower motor. Diagnosis showed no noise.
19221 mi

US $231
Battery was failing and couldn't hold a charge. Factory battery warranty is only 3 years with no prorated replacement reimbursement.
10000 mi Recall of rear window switches
35000 mi GPS went haywire. All of a sudden the screen had our vehicle in a field alongside the interstate. We could not enter destinations. We were out of state at the time. Dealership in FL said there was a service bulletin related to our problem and they fixed it at no charge. Transmission still is choppy especially at low speeds (20-40). Very annoying. Our old Honda Odyssey five speed was much more comfortable shifting.

280-horsepower 3.5L V6 10-speed shiftable automatic FWD

7000 mi Rear entertainment fails at least once a week on short commute to school. They "hard reset" the system. No parts replaced. Nothing fixed.
9000 mi Rear entertainment system dies at least once a week during short commutes to nearby school. No parts replaced. Res system troubleshoot during oil change. They told us to take video of when it happens.
13000 mi RES still failing. Mechanic recommended turning off cabin watch when running entertainment system. They think failures related to cabin watch causing overheating of RES
5700 mi

US $80
Battery low warning light comes on every morning
770 mi Static in speakers, network connectivity issues that caused the RES to malfunction. Dealer replaced rear control unit.
3000 mi Battery was dead. Plus engine stop-start stopped working about 6 weeks prior. Battery replaced and stop-start system worked again.
2000 mi Issues with lane holding software. Issues with front proximity sensors. Issues with foot motion rear hatch opener. Issues with AC temperature control. Total of 12 system writeups, most of which the Honda engineer said worked as designed. Four of these I consider Safety Issues. Repair unsuccessful.
1500 mi Driver's side window would intermittently stop functioning. At the same time, the driver's side power folding mirror would stop functioning. The master control switch was replaced. The hands-free lift gate is very difficult to operate. Asked if the sensitivity could be adjusted. Was told no and given instructions on how to operate it. Asked the service rep to try it out. They were equally unsuccessful and brought out three more people to try it. No one could get it to operate 100% of the time regardless of technique. This was not repaired. Occasionally when cabin watch is active and the rear entertainment system is playing a DVD or Blu-Ray, a loud static noise emits from the speakers, the video playback freezes and the CabinWatch camera video disappears, replaced by the message, "Camera System Problem. Image cannot be displayed." Problem rectifies itself after the car is turned off for 10-15 minutes. No known fix available. Dealer could not replicate because they didn't have a DVD to try. Dealer of purchase suggested waiting until the next software update in January (four months away).
8000 mi Software update to fix navigation and hopefully some of the multitude of problems with the entertainment system. Dealer said it was stuck on searching for updates for four hours. Had to leave as the process was only to take a half hour. Never finished.
17500 mi Audio system issues: Infotainment touch screen occasionally displays error messages, or else goes dark, silent, and unresponsive. This occurs regardless of input source (Bluetooth, USB, XM radio). The symptoms are occasional (once or twice per week) and may be present immediately at startup, or may occur suddenly while driving. No pattern detected. Multiple engine shut-downs and restarts will usually reboot the system.
32000 mi The touch screen for the audio system was freezing up with satellite channel selections, was also slow to boot up at engine startup. Other times, audio system would NOT boot up at cold starts. After one year and three separate attempts to perform "hard resets" on the system, none of which were useful, Honda finally agreed to replace the audio head unit.
15000 mi Head Unit replaced due to navigation system update process failure.
