Does the traditional Alfa grille shape work on a taller crossover face? Thankfully no huge badge. Muscular. Quadrifoglio includes vents in hood, cloverleaf badges on fenders, and rear fender flares.
Aside from the Alfa face, we've seen this basic shape on many competitors beginning with the Audi Q The Q5-based Macan has a similar shape, but slimmer and cleaner. Clamshell hood hides cut lines.
Viewed directly from the side the Alfa appears either muscular or pudgy. Which? Unnecessary boomerang-shaped character line parallels cut line. Otherwise generic from this angle.
Leather, suede, and carbon fiber cover many surfaces. The other bits, though, don't measure up. The Macan interior has less leather (as tested) yet fewer cheapish bits. Lower IP. Many buttons.
Sporty but dated cockpit. Many controls not intuitive. Smallish display. More buttons, which can make for more confusion. But the Macan's infotainment is more intuitive.
Much less sleek than the Porsche interior. But the air vents are at a better height. Large adjustable side bolsters. But insufficiently adjustable, overly far forward headrest.
Comfortable height and sufficient room in rear seat. The Macan is a little tighter. Narrow cargo area. Not much space between the seat backs and the ceiling.
Slightly longer cargo floor with seats folded compared to the Porsche. What you're paying for when you spend $80,000-plus for an Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
