2008 4dr Sedan 420-horsepower 4.2L V8
6-speed manual AWD
EPA ratings are accurate. I've seen as low as 12 mpg in the city, and up to 22 mpg on highway journies. I average 15 mpg in mostly-city driving. see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2008 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4

Overall good fuel economy and quite good range. However, I must add that the fuel pump in the left porition of the fuel tank stopped working on my car, effectively giving me a limited range w/out notice. This caused my car to stall out on three seperate occasions when it ran out of fuel in the right portion of the tank. The fuel tank in this car wraps over the top of the rear diff. The vehicle fuel guage would still read approx. 1/4 tank, yet stall from fuel starvation as the left portion of the tank was not sucking fuel from it; causing a vapor lock. Secondly; fueling this car was time consuming as it had to be filled very slowly, or the pump would shut off. This was shared problem with the evap./emissions system. Lastly, A continual problem with the vehicle's evaporative emissions control system lingers from the manufactorer, and includes known faulty parts. The check pump for the system and its components commonly fail in less than 10k miles. see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2007 Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 Real Gas Mileage: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2008 2dr Convertible 420-horsepower 4.2L V8
6-speed manual AWD
No 420hp car is going to sip fuel, but the fuel tank is small (14.5 gallons) and thus needs filled too often. see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2008 4dr Sedan turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
The diesel version has MORE torque and power AND has a far better range (about 700 miles for 2L diesel engine), I dislike the 22-24 mpg for the combined driving (mostly city). Those are still good numbers for its class. Sucks when have to pay $3.87/gallon see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2007 4dr Wagon turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
I guess this is average for a car like this. Keep off the turbo and things improve. see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2007 4dr Sedan 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
Overall fuel economy barely acceptable on premium fuel. Highway fuel economy is fine but city economy stinks. 21 MPG driving 70% highway miles. However, better than Infiniti G35x see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2007 4dr Sedan 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
only averaging 17 mpg see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2006 4dr Wagon turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4
6-speed manual AWD
Horrible fuel economy in the city. If you are a spirited driver, do not expect decent mileage in the city despite being a 4 cylinder. If you do a lot of highway driving, it may be more acceptable, especially if you don't accelerate too hard. see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2006 4dr Wagon 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
6-speed shiftable automatic AWD
not as good as it should be in my opinion, although in line with the (newer more realistic) EPA figures. see full Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 review
2006 4dr Sedan 255-horsepower 3.1L V6
