Manual transmission shifting poorly -- inconsistent and balky. Dealer diagnosed problem as internal to transmission, requiring replacement. Transmission ordered but not yet received. 
58000 mi Transmission replaced. Transmission was replaced. Had been diagnosed on a previous visit but had to wait for re-manufactured transmission to be received.

2004 BMW Z4 2dr Convertible

184-horsepower 2.5L I6 5-speed shiftable automatic RWD

124600 mi Dreaded P0743 (torque converter). Did initial diag and reset myself and SEL returned in about 30 miles. Took it to the shop, estimate is $700 to 1k. Right now runs and drives fine other than gas mileage dropping by .4 per gal. If it worsens might fix it.
